Two years ago, in 2022, the Hsinchu East Gate Plaza Revitalization project received the prestigious AIA International Design Awards in three categories:
Honor Award for Urban Design
The Sustainable Future Award
Inclusive Design Excellence Award
Although we were unable to attend last year’s 2023 AIA International Conference in Mexico, we’re thrilled to have made it to this year’s conference in Hong Kong!
The theme of this year’s conference, Architectural Intelligence, addressed the emergence of transformative tools like ChatGPT and MidJourney. We learned that leading firms are adopting tools such as MidJourney, xkool, Grasshopper, and many others to push the boundaries of design and innovation. An interesting question was raised at the conference: “If large language models (LLMs) are trained on data from the past thirty years of internet content, how comprehensive and relevant is this data for training architectural models?”
Though the world is transforming rapidly, I find comfort in the thought of grounding ourselves in fundamentals to help us navigate these shifts with resilience.
Thank you to AIA International for inviting us to this thought-provoking conference and for hosting it at the inspiring Henderson center by ZHA.
